The Government Does Not Want To Intervene In League 2, But PSSI And PT LIB Are Asked To Explain The Situation To All Parties

The Minister of Youth and Sports held discussions with PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) to discuss the fate of the League 2 competition. This meeting followed up on President Joko Widodo's direction asking for the best solution.

In this meeting, PSSI was represented by Secretary General Yunus Nusi. Meanwhile, PT LIB was directly represented by their President Director, Ferry Paulus.

This meeting took place in the meeting room on the 10th floor, the Graha Pemuda Kemenpora Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Thursday, January 19.

"We just had a discussion. As I said, after seeing the dynamics and developments of the League 2 competition, then I received directions from the President to immediately find a way out," he continued.

"Because we don't have the authority to play the competition, that's the domain of PSSI assigning operators to LIB. So I usually invite discussions so that there is no impression of intervention from the government," said Menpora Amali during a press conference with journalists.

The results of this meeting will later be submitted to the Chairman of PSSI and other members of the Executive Committee. He also said that later PT LIB would gather all League 2 clubs to discuss this.

"Because the reality is still divided, there are those who want to continue, there are those who don't want to continue. Now this must be invited everyone, PSSI and LIB explain the situation, then discussed into a mutual conclusion," said the man from Gorontalo.

"The results will be reported again to us and of course it will be the government's guide. Because once again the government does not want intervention from the federation and the LIB operator, whatever is decided by them we will support," he continued.

PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi revealed that the results of the meeting with Menpora found a positive progress.

"I will report to the general chairman and exco about the implementation of the League 2 competition. Hopefully this will be a positive part for Indonesian football as well," he said.
