SOE Minister Erick Thohir Officially Candidates To BeCOMe Chairman Of PSSI, Promises To Eradicatehands

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir officially registered as a candidate for PSSI General Chair. He is the second person to register.

The 52-year-old figure has submitted a registration form file at the PSSI Office at the GBK Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, January 15, WIB. He came accompanied by Kaesang Pangarep, Raffi Ahmad, Atta Halilintar, and Baim Wong.

Erick said that he wanted to change the face of Indonesian football if he was elected chairman. He emphasized that he wanted Indonesian football to be more accomplished in the future.

"Many theories, many concepts, but actually what we have to do is we have the courage for clean football and also achieve. That's the most important thing," said Erick after submitting the form.

"So dismantle the unloading for the future improvement of Indonesian football. We have to make sure, in the future there will be no dirty hands in Indonesian football. We have to fix it," he added.

Erick is considered a new person in the national football parent sphere. However, he is very close to the world of sports, especially since he once owned a majority stake in the Italian giant club, Inter Milan.

In addition, this businessman who likes basketball has also served as the General Chair of PERBASI for the 2006 '2010 period and served as President of the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) twice, respectively in the 2006-2010 and 2010-2014 periods.

In 2012 Erick was also trusted as Commander of the Indonesian contingent for the 2012 London Olympics. In the same year he and Levien became the majority shareholder of a Major League Soccer club, DC United.

His most famous acting was buying shares of the NBA basketball club Philadelphia 76ers. The transaction made him the first Asian to own in the world's most famous basketball competition.

"I would like to thank the voters who came. But today the task is to ensure whether our dreams come true together. We start working, we'll see on February 16th," he said.

PSSI itself will hold an Ordinary Congress (KB) this afternoon at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta. This activity was originally scheduled to take place on January 7, but the direction of the parent international football (FIFA) made the agenda postponed.

Ordinary Congresss were held to determine the Election Committee (KP) and the Election Appeal Committee (KBP). So far, 10 candidates have been submitted as voters from League 1 clubs, 2, and, as well as the Provincial Association.

According to regulations, the congressional agenda can be proposed by voters or voters at least 40 days before the implementation time. From the voters' input, the agenda discussed is only KP and KBP.

The Extraordinary Congress (KLB) was supposed to take place on March 18, but was accelerated to February 16. The main agenda of this congress is the election of the General Chair, Deputy General Chair, and members of the Executive Committee.
