JAKARTA - Chairman of the Central Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) Danny Kosasih assessed that the opening ceremony of the U15 Basketball National Championship in Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, was extraordinary.

"The opening of the U15 Basketball Championships is very good and spectacular," Danny Kosasih said after the opening ceremony of the U15 Basketball National Championship in Pangkalpinang, Saturday night, quoted by Antara.

The U15 Basketball Championship in Pangkalpinang City was attended by 192 athletes and officials from eight provinces, namely Central Java, Bali, North Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, East Java, South Sumatra, Banten and DKI Jakarta.

According to Danny, all those present at the opening ceremony seemed amazed to witness the traditional dances typical of Bangka Belitung and lion dances and other entertainment.

"The regulation is ready to support the local government in advancing basketball," he said.

However, he regretted that the field where the U15 Basketball Office was held in Pangkalpinang City was not standard for national championships and facilities had to be added and repaired a lot.

"The field is not yet standard. Therefore, I hope that the local government will immediately create basketball courts that meet the standards for national championships," he said.

The Mayor of Pangkalpinang, Maulan Aklil, admitted that the basketball field building was not too big.

"This is a lesson for us and hopefully this national championship will give us enthusiasm to build even bigger basketball courts," he said.
