JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta overhauled its squad ahead of the second round of Liga 1 2022/2023. Three defenders were officially released at once.
Persija management agreed to end the collaboration with Ryuji Utomo, Al Hamra Hehanussa, and Rangga Widiansyah.
Ryuji's name attracted quite a bit of attention. The player who joined the Kemayoran Tigers since 2017 was released after being judged to have contributed less this season.
Ryuji also seemed to accept management's decision. He said, love and memories with Persija will continue to exist.
"At every meeting there must be a breakup. But love and memories will always survive. Thank you for accepting me to be a family and providing valuable experience," Ryuji said on Persija's official website.
Of the three names released by Persija, only Rangga already has a new club. He has officially contracted Persik Kediri.
Meanwhile, Ryuji and Hamra are still free to transfer or without a club.
Before releasing the three defenders, Persija Jakarta has brought in two new people in this sector. The two players are Ahmad Birrul Walidain and Dandi Maulana.
Ahmad Birrul was brought in from Madura United. Meanwhile, Dandi Maulana is a former Persebaya Surabaya player.
