JAKARTA - Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the trilogy fights of Anthony Joshua (AJ) and Dillian Whyte will take place next summer.

Joshua is reportedly preparing for a third fight with his old rival. This will be the first fight after his second defeat to Ukrainian fighter Oleksandr Usyk in August.

"I think AJ against Dillian Whyte will always be a big fight and I think you will see him in the summer," said the Matchroom Boxing chairman, reported by The Sun, Tuesday, January 3.

In the previous two meetings Joshua and Whyte each shared one win. Joshua won in the professional ranks in December 2015, while Whyte was still an amateur.

Therefore, Joshua seemed eager to continue the competition between them. The desire that made him canceled against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

"Two heavyweights really don't like each other. Big year for Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte," Hearn said.

Whyte and Joshua agreed to hold a trilogy last May at a brief meeting in London.

Joshua will then reportedly return to action in March at the London O2 Arena even though his opponent has not been determined. However, Whyte is more favorite to be his opponent than Fury.

"It was [against] definitely Dillian Whyte. North London, South London. Fury is good, but he is from Manchester. I think Dillian has more confidence in general, but he has failed several times," Hearn said.
