5 Times As Runner-up With Hendra Setiawan Throughout 2022, Mohammad Ahsan Is Fast And Grateful

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles badminton player, Mohammad Ahsan, assessed that his performance during the 2022 competition season was going well. The duet with Hendra Setiawan was also considered to have a satisfactory result.

Throughout the 2022 competition season, this senior duo nicknamed The Daddies has appeared in 17 tournaments in various classes. However, Ahsan remains grateful and not disappointed with the results.

"Alhamdulillah, it's good enough for us, we are also satisfied that we have entered the final several times even though the results are not champions. But we are still grateful," Mohammad Ahsan was quoted as saying by Antara on Tuesday, December 27.

Of the entire tournament that has been through throughout 2022, The Daddies have qualified for the final round five times but all ended only as runners-up.

The last tournament they had was the 2022 BWF World Tour Finals which took place in Bangkok, Thailand on December 7-11. At that time Ahsan/Hendra met Chinese representatives Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi in the final.

That moment became the fifth meeting for the two, but Ahsan / Hendra's struggle ran aground after struggling in rubber games 17-21, 21-19, and 12-21. Regarding his opponent, Ahsan assessed that Liu / Ou had experienced a significant increase in performance compared to previous tournaments.

"They were also good from the start, yesterday at the Indonesia Open they won. Indeed, they have capital, but now they may be more stable and they are a strong couple," said Ahsan.

In addition, Ahsan admitted that the condition of the two of them when they appeared in poor condition. However, when the body condition is limited, Ahsan shared that mental strength and motivation are the key to success through the group stage and reaching the top round.

"We are motivated to play from round to round, we don't want to overdo it, we have to do what's important, we can just qualify for that group," said the badminton player from Palembang.
