Responding To The Praise Of His Duet With Gavi Better Than Xavi-Iniesta, Pedri: Still Far

JAKARTA - Barcelona's young player, Pedri, responded to Xavi Hernandez's praise. That's related to his duet with Gavi who is considered better than himself and Iniesta.

Pedri is happy is not playing. However, the 20-year-old is self-aware that he still has to prove further.

It is true that they (Xavi and Iniesta), at our age, are not in our position now. But then they are at the top level, which is spectacular," Pedri told Radio Catalunya, quoted by Sport on Monday, December 26.

"In my opinion, it is much better than what Gavi and I are currently doing. To get to their position, we are still far away and need to go through a long journey," he added.

Previously, Xavi said that the duet of Pedri and Gavi surpassed his duet performances with Iniesta in the past.

For performances at the club, so far Pedri and Gavi have made 19 appearances in all competitions. Pedri contributed three goals and Gavi contributed with one assist.

The appearance was considered efficient to help Barcelona lead the La Liga standings. Because of this record, the duo Pedri and Gavi are predicted to be the successors to the legendary duo Barcelona and Spain, Xavi and Iniesta.

During his time as a player Xavi and Iniesta successfully led Barca to dominate domestic competitions and win four Champions League titles. In the international arena, Xavi and Iniesta also helped Spain win the 2010 World Cup and won the European Cup twice in 2008 and 2012.

However, for Xavi, he feels that Pedri and Gavi have a much better and more qualified performance than he used to be.
