Frederic Vesseur Becomes Ferrari Principal Team, McLaren Show Stella Change Seidl

JAKARTA - After leaving Alfa Romeo, Frederic Vasseur has now officially become Scuderia Ferrari's new Team Principal for the 2023 season. The news was announced along with other name transfers.

Through the latest upload on Instagram on Tuesday, December 13, the official F1 account confirmed Vasseur's position as the new Principal Team in the Jingkrak Horse team.

Vasseur previously served as Team Principal for Alfa Romeo for six years. During his term of office, Vasseur succeeded in bringing the team to seventh place this season.

Apart from Ferrari, the McLaren manufacturer also announced a change in his Team Principal position. Andreas Seidl's departure to Alfa Romeo left the position vacant.

However, the vacant chair was immediately filled again because it is now occupied by Andrea Stella. This news was also shared on the same day by the F1 account which was only a few hours later.

Andreas Seidl left McLaren to join the Sauber Group as CEO," wrote a statement for Seidl.

"McLaren is promoting Andrea Stella to the Principal Team position," continued the statement in another upload.

Stella's promotion was welcomed by McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown.

"I am delighted that Andrea Stella has promoted to the team's principle and leads our F1 team's technical and operational programs," Brown said, quoted from McLaren's official website, Tuesday, December 13.

"Andrea is so talented and experienced, with a strong leadership record," he added.

Stella has indeed joined McLaren for a long time. He has been in the Woking team since 2015, as head of racing operations, previously serving as director of racing.

Prior to being with McLaren, Stella started his career in F1 as one of the engineers in Ferrari. He even became one of the Ferrari engineers who led Kimi Raikkonen to world champion in 2007.
