JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, successfully won the award at the Gala dinner as the opening ceremony for the 2022 BWF World Tour Finals, Monday, December 5 evening, at the Grand & Bangkok Convention Center, Center World, Bangkok, Thailand.

Fajar/Rian won the award as Most Improved Player of The Year. This PBSI mainstay pair outperformed other nominations such as Jeong Na Kim/Kim Hye Jeong (South Korea) and Prannoy HS (India).

Fajar admitted that he was very touched. In fact, his eyes looked teary when he received this award.

"I am very touched because the struggle is not easy, we were able to get up and win this. I did not expect to win because other nominations also performed extraordinary this year," Fajar said on the official PBSI website, Tuesday, December 6.

Meanwhile Rian said this award adds to his motivation and also Fajar. Both are ready to give better in the future.

"Hopefully with this award we can be better, more consistent in the future. This is also a motivational injection to appear in the World Tour Finals," said Rian.

Both also thanked all those who supported their career journey. Be it parents, family, PBSI and also BWF.

"Friends, as well as all Indonesian people and fans who have always supported us until now," concluded Fajar.

Meanwhile, the award for the best men's player in 2022 fell to Viktor Axelsen. While the best female player won by Akane Yamaguchi from Japan.
