JAKARTA - The Singapore volleyball national team held a training camp in Indonesia. They "extended" because they did not have a commensurate opponent in Singapore.
The plan is for the Singapore women's volleyball national team to forge themselves at the General Kunarto Volleyball Padepokan, Sentul, Bogor, West Java, until December 5.
Not only training, the Singapore team will undergo a series of test matches. Their opponents include Bandung bjb Tandamata, Jakarta Popsivo Polwan, PPOP Bogor Regency and Jakarta BIN.
"A match like this is important for us because we don't have an equal match opponent," said Singapore coach Suntorn Phoseeta, in a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 3.
"In a week, we only practice three times. However, we are still enthusiastic about competing. We hope to appear in the 2023 (Camboja) SEA Games," he added.
The match against Bandung bjb Tandamata was held on Friday, December 2, yesterday. Suntorn admitted that his team had valuable experience dealing with strong teams like bjb Tandamata.
"We can also evaluate the performance of the children. There is a lot that I have to improve on from this team, starting from blocks, ball returns, and teamwork," said Suntorn.
Meanwhile, the coach of bjb Tandamata, Alim Suseno, said the test against Singapore was the first step in preparation for Proliga 2023. He said the team from Bandung had only been training for one week by interspersing load training.
"The core team has not yet been formed. The skeleton does not yet exist," said Alim.
