JAKARTA - German football club Borussia Dortmund donated their star number 19 costume, Julian Brandt, to the family of the victims of Kanjuruhan, Malang.

According to a written statement from Antara, Wednesday night, the auctioned costume was purchased by a Vietnamese businessman for 1,500 US dollars (approximately Rp. 23.46 million).

Managing Director of Dortmund, Carsten Cramer handed over the results of the auction to the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryopratomo at the Oneferton Hotel, Wednesday.

"This is part of our sympathy for the families of the victims of the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium," said Cramer.

Dortmund toured Southeast Asia following a competition break due to the 2022 World Cup. The eight-time German League champion is scheduled to have a friendly match against Singapore League champions Lion City Sailors Thursday, November 24 at Jalan Besar Stadium.

Cramer apologized to Dortmund lovers in Indonesia for the cancellation of their visit to Surabaya.

"We have actually scheduled to stop by Indonesia other than Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. Next time we will definitely stop and play in Indonesia," said the Dortmund Managing Director.

The incident that occurred at the Kanjuruhan Stadium was the reason Dortmund's cancellation visit to Surabaya. The handling of the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium made the football match stop in Indonesia.

Dortmund brought all the players who were not called to the national team to take part in the tour to Southeast Asia. Team captain Marco Reus, center-back Mats Emre Can was taken by coach Edin Terzic on this trip.

Reus was dropped by Coach Hans-Dietter Flick into the national team due to an ankle ligament injury during a Bundesliga match against Schalke last September.

"Unfortunately I can't defend the national team. But I am grateful that the injury is getting better now," said Reus, who always failed to defend Die Mannschaft at the World Cup due to injury.
