Losing Two Points Due To Lloris Blunder, Mourinho Refuses To Blame His Goalkeeper

JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho doesn't want to blame goalkeeper Hugo Lloris for two points that slipped when his team was held to a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace in Week 12 of the Premier League at Selhurst Park, London, Sunday.

Lloris made a blunder in the 81st minute when he missed an Erebechi Eze free kick and the ball hit the French keeper in the chest before falling and being struck by Jeffrey Schlupp into the net.

The goal erased the lead Tottenham had from the 23rd minute when Harry Kane finished Son Heung-min's pass.

"My goalkeeper is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, period. If you have to blame, I direct that to the whole team," Mourinho said after the match.

According to Mourinho, what was instructed to the players in the dressing room during the break was inversely proportional to what Tottenham did in the second half.

"I gave advice to the players as opposed to what we did in the second half," he said.

"If I look at the first 45 minutes it's clear two points are slipping, but from the 45th to 75th minute we couldn't build up attacks from behind and made a lot of mistakes," concluded Mourinho.

The result had threatened Tottenham's position at the top of the standings with a collection of 25 points.

Luckily in the game later on, Liverpool (25) also failed to win when Fulham was held to a draw at Craven Cottage.

That means Tottenham and Liverpool will fight for top spot in the standings when the two teams meet in the next match on Wednesday, December 16 at Anfield.
