Lyon Beat PSG 1-0 At Parc Des Princes, Neymar Injured

JAKARTA - Olympique Lyonnais defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 at home in the closing match of Week 14 of the French League which took place at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Sunday local time (Monday WIB).

For this result PSG must drop to third place with 28 points or one point adrift of Lille and Lyon who are in first and second respectively, according to the official French League record.

Apart from failing to return to being at the top of the standings, this defeat must also be paid handsomely because their mega star, Neymar, suffered an injury at the end of the match.

Neymar was seen crying in pain in the angkle section when dueling with Thiago Mendes. On the VAR broadcast, Mendes cut Neymar's leg while trying to snatch the ball from the Brazilian. Mendes was also rewarded with a red card by referee Beniot Bastien.

In the first half Lyon who acted as the visitors were able to keep up with Paris Saint-Germain's fast tempo game. The calmness of the back line is also the key to reducing the surging attacks of Neymar and his friends.

The emergence of Kylian Mbappe also influenced PSG's game, which was always centered on Neymar's movements both when designing attacks and being a ball booster.

Neymar tries to trick the Lyon goalkeeper in a corner kick situation. He released the bait which went straight to the goal, unfortunately the ball still touched the outside net.

Towards the end of the first half, Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopez made a brilliant save by blocking Florenzi's volley that stood without an escort. The ball tight in front of the face can still be pushed over by Lopez.

In the second half, PSG dominated possession. They also included Kylian Mbappe to increase their banging power on the front lines. A number of opportunities were created, but again Lopez was able to thwart opportunity after opportunity.

On the other hand, Lyon remain disciplined in maintaining their own defense line and are not provoked into playing openly. They waited a lot to counterattack by relying on the speed of Toko Ekambi and Kadewere.

In the following week, PSG will meet Lorient at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, December 16 local time (Thursday WIB), while Lyon will host Brest.
