PSSI Speeds The Movement Of The Jordi-Sandy Federation For The AFF Cup

PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan said that his party was speeding up the process of transferring the federations Jordi Amat and Sandy Walsh, two footballers who had just become Indonesian citizens, so that they could strengthen the Indonesian national team in the 2022 AFF Cup.

"We will write to FIFA about changes to the federation. Hopefully all processes will be completed quickly," said Iriawan at the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights DKI Jakarta, Jakarta, Thursday.

In order to be able to play for the Indonesian national team, Sandy and Jordi still have to go through the process of transferring the federation after officially becoming an Indonesian citizen.

Sandy, who was previously a Dutch citizen, must change federations from KNVB to PSSI, while Jordi (Spain) from RFEF (Spanish Football Federation).

However, PSSI has not been able to confirm how long the federation transfer process will be completed.

To be sure, both names will be included in the big list (maximum 70 names) of Indonesian national team players for the 2022 AFF Cup which must be included in the AFF maximum of 20 November 2022.

"Please be patient because all processes must be passed," said Iriawan.

Jordi Amat and Sandy Walsh officially became Indonesian citizens (WNI) after taking the oath of allegiance at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Jakarta, Thursday.

Jordi Amat (30 years) and Sandy Walsh (27 years) are footballers with Indonesian defenders, each with Spanish and Dutch nationals, and a long career in Europe.

Jordi had strengthened teams such as Espanyol, Swansea City and Real Betis, and is now playing in the Malaysian Super League with Johor Darul Ta'zim.

Meanwhile, Sandy Walsh is a footballer who has never had a career outside Belgium. Currently, the right-back is listed as a KV Mechelen player in the Belgian League.

The 2022 AFF Cup will be held on December 20, 2022 - January 16, 2023. In that tournament, the Indonesian national team is in Group A with defending champions Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and Brunei Darussalam.

PSSI targets Indonesia to become the champion of the 2022 AFF Cup. If it succeeds in obtaining this achievement, the title will be the first in history for the "Garuda" squad.
