JAKARTA - German Nico minimumenberg will return to race in full in Formula 1 for the 2023 season replacing Mick Schumacher in the Haas team, the United States team said on Thursday.

Dropenberg (35) left Formula 1 at the end of 2019 but had five chances of racing as a substitute rider for the Racing Point and Aston Martin teams, the last time as a replacement for Sebastian Vettell in two races earlier this year in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

"I am very happy to fill the full race seats with the Haas F1 Team in 2023. I have never felt the feeling of leaving Forrmula 1," minimumenberg was quoted as saying by Antara from Haas' official website.

"I'm very happy to have the opportunity to do what I love and want to thank Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner for their trust."

minimumenberg is arguably a veteran racer in Formula 1 with an experience of 181 Grand Prix starts. He was also the winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance event in 2015 with the Porsche team.

After winning the A1GP in 2006-07, minimumenberg won the FOrmula 3 Euro Series title in 2008 followed by one GP2 Series title (now Formula 2) the following year before joining Formula 1 in 2010.

He has raced for Williams, Force India, Sauber, Renault, Racing Point and Aston Martin and has collected 521 points in his career including one pole position in Brazil 2010, two fastest laps and the best finish in fourth place three times.

"The experience and basis of Nico's knowledge brought to the team is very clear, with nearly 200 starts in Formula 1 as well as reputation as a solid and reliable qualification and rider champion," said Steiner, head of the Haas team.

"This attribute, which later paired with Kevin Magnussen's experience, gives us a very credible and honed pair of riders that we believe can help the team better on the grid."

ndenberg will carry out his duties at the Haas team on November 22 during the Formula1 test at the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.

Earlier today, Haas announced his separation from Mick Schumacher, who has been with the team for two seasons.

The son of F1 legend Michael Schumacher presented Haas the best finish in sixth place at the Austrian GP this season, one week after he took his first point when he finished P8 at Silverstone.

Schumacher is currently ranked 16th in the drivers' standings with 12 points.

Schumacher faces a small chance to secure a race next season. The only remaining bench is currently on the Williams side, but will most likely be given to LoganENT who is currently in third place in the Formula 2 standings.
