The Liverpool Captain Seemed A Dream Come True For Alexander-Arnold

JAKARTA - Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold could not hide his pride when he was appointed captain in the final match of the Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland at MCH Arena, Herning, Denmark, on Wednesday local time (Thursday WIB), calling it a dream come true .

Alexander-Arnold's pride was expressed through uploads via his personal Twitter account. He uploaded a photo comparing his time at the academy with the current one.

"A dream come true," wrote Alexaner-Arnold in his personal Twitter account, @TrentAA, Thursday WIB.

Alexander-Arnold is trusted to carry the captain's armband, because Liverpool's main captain Jordan Henderson was rested by manager Juergen Klopp and had to start the match from the bench.

Vice-captain James Milner is also still out with injury, as is Virgil van Dijk, who is usually trusted to carry the armband in the absence of Henderson or Milner. Meanwhile, senior midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, who was in the Premier League yesterday, had the captain's armband during the match against Midtjylland, only to warm the bench.

Alexander-Arnold said the experience of being captain will be a fond memory and will never be forgotten in his personal records.

"I clearly have to thank the manager and staff who chose me to be captain of the team tonight. This is a very proud night for me," he said as quoted by Antara from the official UEFA website after the match.

"I think I will look back on tonight with fond memories of being captain for the first time," Alexander-Arnold added.

Klopp also praised Alexander-Arnold, who had led the Reds well throughout the match. He admitted that he chose Alexander-Arnold as captain because the local player was one of the longest serving members of the squad.

"He (Alexander-Arnold) did a great job. Actually, my plan was not to play him either, but then the game developed in a different way," said Klopp.

"It is a decision when we have a committee on who is usually the captain; it means Hendo (Henderson) Milly (Milner), Virgil (van Dijk) and Gini (Wijnaldum). They all didn't play tonight, and because of that (captain election. ) has always been the longest-running player at the club and that's definitely Trent, "he added.
