Bivol beat Ramirez by unanimous decision with two 117-111 cards and one 118-110 card, which cost El Zurdo his first defeat as a professional boxer after 44 fights.
El Zurdo has won the world title in his career, crowned in the 168 pound category by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) between 2016 and 2018.

Ramirez's former world champion Oscar de la Hoya left a message on Twitter in which he showed his support for Mexican boxers, in addition to acknowledging Bivol's superiority.
