JAKARTA Toni Kroos claims his former Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola is the most ideal tactician in his career and game journey.

The Real Madrid player spent a year with Guardiola while in Bayern before moving to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2014.

Together with the plontos-headed coach, Kroos won the German Bundesliga in the 2013/14 season. It's just that while together in the German giants, they never lifted the Champions League trophy.

"If you have to choose the most ideal coach for my game, it's [Pep] Guardiola," Kroos said, quoted by Marca on Thursday.

Kroos joined Los Blancos with a transfer value of 25 million euros even though at that time Guardiola tried to hold back from staying at the Allianz Arena.

In Madrid, the German international grew into one of the modern great midfielders. Over the span of eight years with the La Liga giant, he also won four Champions League trophies and three La Liga titles.

"Guardiola fought until the last day to keep me at Bayern Munich. He improved me a lot," said the midfielder.

Toni Kroos, who has now retired from international football, has won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with Germany. He also has five Champions League titles, including the latest last season with Real Madrid after donating Liverpool.
