PSSI Will Accelerate Extraordinary Congress

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Mochamad Iriawan ensured that the extraordinary congress (KLB) of the federation he leads will be held as soon as possible.

This was conveyed after PSSI held an emergency meeting of the executive committee (Exco) from 19.00 to 22.45 WIB at the GBK Arena, Friday night WIB. The meeting was attended by 12 members of the executive committee.

"The meeting decided for the usual congress of elections through an extraordinary congressional mechanism according to the organizational rules," said the figure who is familiarly called Iwan Bule on the fededation YouTube channel.

This KLB is contained in Article 34 Paragraph 2 of the PSSI Statute. This article states that the KLB will be implemented if at least two-thirds of the delegation (voters) representing PSSI submits a written request.

This request had previously been made by Persis Solo and Persebaya Surabaya clubs. The two clubs sent a letter to PSSI on October 25 to urge the implementation of the KLB for the good of national football.

Exco PSSI will also start the verification stage before carrying out an extraordinary congress within three months after the verification process is complete. However, the KLB will be accelerated by taking into account letters from Persis and Persebaya.

"Because Exco PSSI does not want divisions among its members. Exco is a mandatory elected delegation representing PSSI members," said Iriawan.

To start the congressional stage, PSSI will send a letter to FIFA first. The letter will unravel the congressional proposal and will be released to the media on October 31.

This KLB was held in response to the tragedy of Kanjuruhan on October 1, which killed 135 people. Many parties urged this incident so that there was a need for a major transformation in Indonesian football.
