JAKARTA - The European Super League (ESL) is planned to roll back after appointing a new CEO, Bernd Reichert. The organizer then persuaded the big Premier League club to rejoin.

At that time, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur joined the competition, but because of strong protests from the public, the clubs resigned.

Now that Bernd Reichart has been appointed as the new CEO, he intends to create this competition in three years. With this intention, Reichart said the clubs above still have the opportunity to join the ESL even though it all depends on the team's will.

"This is a voluntary proposition to speak," Reichart was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"If someone closes the door, I can't talk to them but I hope people are interested and important clubs want to encourage him and have discussions."

"A number of clubs continue to care and suggest solutions despite criticism. They return, listen, learn, and engage in conversations."

Since ESL's failure to materialize, UEFA as the agency that oversees European football with the influential European Club Association has formed a body to maximize commercial opportunities and negotiate broadcast rights.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, which are three of the 12 clubs that founded ELS, are still fighting for the new competition between European clubs to materialize. However, the three clubs are now both experiencing severe financial pressure.

Reflecting on the situation, Reichart said he wanted to create a competition where financial regulations were properly enforced, claiming that this did not happen under UEFA.

"Now we come back and give advice. This is the right and credible approach. There are a number of formats that can present the game in a more attractive and effective way," Reichart said.
