3 Midfielders Liverpool Can Sign At The January 2023 Transfer Window

JAKARTA Liverpool have had a very disappointing start to the season. So far they have won only four of the ten games that have been played in the English Premier League.

The result made them have to occupy seventh place in the standings with a collection of 16 points. They are 11 points adrift of Arsenal who lead the top of the standings.

The Reds could get that bad result due to the crisis they are experiencing in the midfield of the team. The reason is, almost all of their senior midfielders suffered injuries at the beginning of the opening of the campaign.

To that end, Jurgen Klopp needs to look for a midfielder in the transfer window next January. The following is a list of three midfielders Liverpool can recruit at the beginning of next year.

Liverpool have actually contacted RB Leipzig to get Laimer ahead of the closing of last summer's window. However, the German club rejected the offer.

However, the Austrian national team player can move to Anfield in January. Moreover, his current contract at the Red Bull Arena will expire at the end of this season.

Laimer is a versatile footballer who is able to play in various positions in midfield so he is believed to be a very good choice to replace James Milner.

Moises Caicedo is one of the most promising midfielders in the Premier League. He has proven himself to be one of the most important players after breaking into Brighton & Hove Albion's senior team last season.

He has played 18 league games so far for The Seagulls, recording two goals and one assist. According to WhoScored, Caicedo has 2.9 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, and 1.2 key passes per 90 minutes in the league this season.

In addition, Caicedo completed 87.4 percent of its attempted pass. Not only Liverpool, this Ecuadorian international was also monitored by Chelsea ahead of the January transfer window.

Frenkie de Jong is one of the most talented footballers of his generation. The Dutch international has appeared in 151 games in all competitions since joining Barcelona in 2019.

Of that number, he managed to score 14 goals and 18 assists. In addition, he has recorded 91.6 percent of his passes, 1.8 tackles, and 1.4 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga this season.

Barca wanted to sell the midfielder during last summer's window, but De Jong himself insisted on staying at Camp Nou.

However, there is a possibility that Barcelona will release it in January. According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool may be ready to compete for De Jong's signature.
