JAKARTA - The Aprilia Racing factory team has expressed great enthusiasm ahead of the 2022 Malaysian MotoGP this weekend. Although there are only a few series left, they have not given up on the title race.

This was revealed by Massimo Rivola, Aprilia Racing Manager who said his team must remain determined to fight as much as possible at the Sepang Circuit.

Reporting from Corsedimoto, Wednesday, Aleix Espargaro became Aprilia's mainstay rider to win the 2022 MotoGP title. However, he actually performed less than optimally in the last three series that took place in Japan, Thailand and Australia.

In the last race at the Philip Island Circuit, Australia, Espargaro only got seven points from finishing ninth. In fact, if he entered the three fastest, Espargaro could chase Fabio Quartararo at the top of the standings which at that time failed to finish.

Espargaro could not take advantage of the golden opportunity and became an opportunity for Francesco Bagnaia. The Ducati rider finished third and made him able to shift Fabio Quartararo at the top of the standings.

Now, to be able to shift Bagnaia at the top, Espargaro needs to catch up to 27 points. With two races remaining, his chances of capturing the main venue still exist even though it is quite difficult.

However, Massimo Rivola wants Aleix Espargaro and Aprilia to end the season as champions because they don't want to just receive praise for a good season.

Therefore, the boss asked his men to be ready to fight in the next race in the 2022 Malaysia MotoGP. This target is to open up opportunities for their champions to be maintained until the last race in Valencia.

"I don't care about what's going on this season, here we want to play in the championship until the end, we're not just here to say 'good season, good season'," Massimo Rivola said.

We have to go to Malaysia with a knife between our teeth. But first of all we have to understand what's going on there, which isn't allowed on that track because we lost important points today (in Australia)," he stressed.
