JAKARTA - There has been a spike in flight ticket bookings to Qatar. Ticket orders to Qatar ahead of the World Cup increased a total of 10 times more than the same period before the pandemic.

The nine other countries with the highest number of orders are Mexico with 79 times, Argentina 77, Spain 53, Japan 46, South Korea 24, Brazil 14, Tunisia 13, and France and the United States 11.

According to the report, the high flight rate from Dubai is thought to be due to many football fans who prefer to stay or stay in the UAE capital rather than in Doha, Qatar.

Factors of the lack of accommodation in Qatar are the cause of prospective World Cup audiences preferring Dubai to be a place to live.

Ticket requests also continue to soar despite the requirement to show negative results from the COVID-19 test to enter Qatar.

The host reported an increase in bookings for 31,123 hotel rooms by the end of the first quarter, according to information compiled by Reuters from Qatari tourism authorities.

FIFA has booked 80 percent of available rooms in Qatar for players, guests and officials during the tournament. FIFA is expected to release unnecessary rooms to the market over the next few weeks.
