JAKARTA The legendary Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao will undergo a charity fight in Korea to help Ukrainian war victims.

The eight-division champion in boxing history will face Korean mixed martial arts artist DK Yoo on December 11 at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX), Gorge, Soul.

"I am very grateful for this opportunity and excited for this exhibition fight," Pacquiao told a news conference in Seoul as reported by The Korea Times on Wednesday.

Pacquiao, 43, played his last official fight in August 2021. Future exhibitions will be competed under boxing rules for six two-minute rounds.

The two fighters will wear 10 ounces of gloves. Later the funds raised from this fight will be donated to help war victims and recovery in Ukraine.

"This fight is serious. We will try to beat each other. That's why we have to work hard," Pacquiao said.

During his career in boxing, Pacquiao recorded a record 62 wins (39 KOs), eight defeats, and two draws. Later he was said to still have the desire to return to the professional boxing ring.

Pacquiao said he would use the upcoming fight to decide whether he wanted to return to professional boxing or keep playing in exhibition matches.

"It depends. We'll see the results on December 11," Pacquiao said with a smile.

Pacquiao had entered politics in his home country since he was still active in boxing. He served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016 and was a member of the Senate from 2016 to 2022. He later ran for president earlier this year, but lost to Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In addition to being active in boxing and politics, Pacquiao, who is a basketball fan, has also been the owner of a team in the Philippine Basketball Association and founded a semi-professional league in the country. Until now he is still actively playing basketball to keep his condition fit.
