JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali stated that the Indonesian National Police has agreed to improve regulations regarding securing football matches in Indonesia to be aligned with FIFA and PSSI statutes.

"All regulations, both FIFA rules and PSSI regulations, will be integrated with the existing regulations in the Police, especially regarding security," Amali told the media crew in the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Friday, quoted by Antara.

The police officer was one of the results of a coordination meeting at the Kemenpora Office on Thursday, which was conveyed by the Minister of Youth and Sports to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Friday.

"Later he will come out as a rule, namely from the Police, but adopting all the things that are the rules in FIFA and PSSI," he said.

"Actually FIFA and PSSI are the same, because PSSI takes from the FIFA statutes. So the PSSI statutes are mostly, almost all of them, are valid in FIFA," Amali added.

The change in football security regulations is one of the follow-up follow-up following the Kanjuruhan Tragedy after the Indonesian League 1 match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya which killed more than 100 victims at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, last Saturday.

The Minister of Youth and Sports on Thursday invited a number of stakeholders to attend a coordination meeting to evaluate and improve security procedures for organizing football in Indonesia at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Office, Jakarta.

During the coordination meeting, the Deputy Commander of the Brimob Police Corps Inspector General Pol. Setyo Boedi Moempuni Harso said that the National Police had discussed with PSSI to make regulations as a guide for securing soccer matches at the stadium.

Setyo admitted that the standard operating procedures (SOP) for security that had been used by the National Police had not been aligned with FIFA and PSSI regulations.

"There is already an SOP, but it is not yet in line with the relevant regulations (FIFA and PSSI). This must be harmonized because there is an SOP regarding demonstrations and SOPs outside the stadium that require special handling," he said.

The Kanjuruhan tragedy occurred after the riots after the disbandment of Arema's match against Persebaya which ended with a score of 2-3, in which a number of supporters entered the field and was answered strongly by security officers who fired tear gas at the stands.

Police Documentation Data (Dokpol) stated that at least 125 people died due to the Kanjuruhan Tragedy, while East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa stated that there were six other fatalities whose bodies had been identified and their families buried so that they were not recorded in the data collection of the Police Docpol.

Meanwhile, the National Police Docpol also noted that 29 victims suffered serious injuries and another 440 minor injuries.

President Jokowi formed an Independent Fact Finding Joint Team (TGIPF) consisting of 13 people chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD accompanied by the Minister of Youth and Sports as Deputy Chair who was ordered to investigate the Corruption Tragedy within one month.

Mahfud set a higher target so that TGIPF could complete an investigation of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy for two weeks or even sooner.

President Jokowi also ordered a thorough audit of all football stadiums in Indonesia, both physically and in match management.

Meanwhile, the National Police Chief, General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, on Thursday (6/10) has named six suspects in the Kanjuruhan Tragedy, namely the President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) AHL, Chairman of the Executive Committee AH, security officer SS, Head of Malang Police Ops WSS, Danki 3 Brimob Polda Jatim H, and Kasat Samapta Polres Malang BSA who were charged with Article 359 and Article 360 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), and Article 103 Juncto Article 52 of Law Number 11 of 2022 concerning Exemplity.
