JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali visited the Jakarta Presidential Palace on Friday to report to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the joint declaration of four major supporters attending a coordination meeting to improve security procedures for the implementation of Indonesian football.

According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, in a meeting held at the Kemenpora Office on Thursday, representatives of supporters of four large mass-based clubs were Arema FC, Persebaya Surabaya, Persib Bandung, and Persija Jakarta.

"Yesterday I invited them and they stated that we would stop (occurring) like yesterday again," Amali told the media crew after a meeting at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, quoted by Antara, Friday.

The declaration, continued the Minister of Youth and Sports, also includes the termination of provocative narratives that are often displayed through banners in stadiums and uploads of groups of supporters on social media.

"'There are usually (there are) narratives provoking people to be able to attack each other, we will stop it. If there are those who are still stubborn, they will also be regulated, of course that is the authority of PSSI, yes," he said.

A similar commitment has also been voiced by 18 Indonesian League 1 clubs who were also invited by the Minister of Youth and Sports to attend the coordination meeting.

"All League 1 clubs are committed to keeping the Kanjuruhan Tragedy from happening again," Amali said.

Previously, the Minister of Youth and Sports last Thursday chaired a coordination meeting regarding the evaluation and improvement of security procedures for the implementation of football in Indonesia.

The coordination meeting was attended by Deputy Commander of the Brimob Police Corps Inspector General Pol Setyo Boedi Moempuni Harso, representatives of the Ministry of Health, representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, representatives of the National Disaster Management Agency, PSSI, PT Liga Indonesia Baru, managers of League 1 clubs, the organizing committees of each League 1 club, as well as representatives of four supporters.

The Minister of Youth and Sports explained that the coordination meeting was held as a follow-up to President Jokowi's direction as well as the decision of the previous coordination meeting at the Ministry of Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

The Minister of Youth and Sports received directions from President Jokowi following the Kanjuruhan Tragedy that killed more than a hundred people after the League 1 match between Arema and Persebaya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, on Saturday (1/10) last week.

The incident began with Arema's 2-3 defeat and after the match a number of the host supporters entered the field, which the security officers responded strongly to by firing tear gas into the stands of the Kanjuruhan Stadium.

Data from the Police Documentation team (Dokpol) noted that the Kanjuruhan Tragedy claimed at least 125 lives, while the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa stated that six other fatalities were not recorded by the Docpol because his body had already been taken by his family and relatives.

President Jokowi has formed an Independent Fact Finding Joint Team (TGIPF) of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy chaired by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD and accompanied by the Minister of Youth and Sports as deputy chairman.

The team containing the 13 members was asked by President Jokowi to investigate the Kanjurasan Tragedy with a deadline of less than one month since it was formed.
