JAKARTA - Para pemain Denmark akan melakukan perjalanan ke Piala Dunia 2022 tanpa keluarga mereka.Media lokal melaporkan berita tersebut pada Selasa, ketika FA Denmark (DBU) ingin meminimkan aktivitas di Qatar sebagai protes terhadap pelanggaran hak asasi manusia negara itu.

"We don't want to contribute to creating an advantage for Qatar," DBU communications manager Jakob Hoyer told the Extra Bladet newspaper, quoted Wednesday.

"In the previous (World Cup final), the players' wives and girlfriends traveled with the board, but as I said, we have canceled that trip for (this final)."

Qatar faces strong criticism from human rights groups and the media for its treatment of migrant workers.

Analysis of the Guardian newspaper in February 2021 concluded 6,500 South Asian migrants have died in Qatar since 2010 and the International Labor Organization said Qatar did not report its workers' deaths honestly.

Meanwhile, Qatar World Cup organizers, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Heritage (SC), denied claims that "the tournament has claimed the lives of thousands of people".

The Qatari government said its labor system was in the process, but denied Amnesti's 2021 report that thousands of migrant workers were still being exploited.

Last week, sportswear company totaled the uniforms Denmark would wear at the World Cup designed as protests against Qatar's human rights abuses.

As for the DBU, it also reduces travel to Qatar for its board members, local media reported last week. Each of them can only attend one Denmark match, while no more than two council members can attend each of their matches.

Denmark started their World Cup campaign on November 22 against Tunisia.
