JAKARTA - MotoGP has officially entered the Kazakhstan Grand Prix in their racing calendar starting in 2023. The five-year contract has also been signed.

The official announcement was made by MotoGP through their official website on Tuesday, September 27. The race will take place at the Sokol International Racetrack.

"MotoGP World Championship will come to Kazakhstan! 2023 will be the start of a five-year deal where MotoGP will land in a new place, given that Sokol International Racetrack is joining the racing calendar," the MotoGP statement said.

Kazakhstan is included in the racing calendar after being based on several considerations. One of them is expanding the basis of fans in the Central Asian region.

"Based outside Kazakhstan's largest city, Almaty, Sokol is a new motorsport complex built in the heart of Central Asia," MotoGP wrote.

"This area will be the latest pitstop for MotoGP, considering this event continues to spread its wings around the world, attracting new markets and fan bases," they added.

This is the first time Kazakhstan has been appointed to host the most prestigious motorcycle racing event. It's just that the details related to the race date there have not been detailed by MotoGP.

Several growing rumors say the Kazakhstan Grand Prix will take place in the middle of the season. However, the certainty will continue to wait for the schedule released by MotoGP.

Kazakhstan will be the 30th country to hold the MotoGP Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Sokol International Racetrack is the 74th place where the race will take place.
