Lewandowski More Trusts In Winning The Ballon D'Or At Barcelona Considers Playing Time At Bayern

JAKARTA Robert Lewandowski hints more confident he will win the Ballon d'Or award after joining Barcelona.

The Polish national team striker left Bayern Munich for Camp Nou in the window this summer. His performance with the Catalan team immediately broke out.

A performance that immediately increased made Lewandowski believe his opportunity is now very open compared to Bayern. In addition, one of the reasons to move is to win the award.

"Barcelona is the team with the most players to win the Ballon d'Or. I think the way [to win the Ballon d'Or] is shorter at Barcelona than Bayern [Munchen]," he said.

The 34-year-old actually had the greatest chance of winning the Ballon d'Or in 2020. However, his hopes were dashed because the awards in that year were eliminated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many later predicted he would win it the following year. However, he again failed to get the most prestigious individual award after losing to Lionel Messi.

Thus, he is expected to be in favor again this year after a promising start with the Blaugrana with 11 goals in eight appearances across competitions.

He will compete with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. The French international is expected to receive this award after guiding Los Blancos to the La Liga and the European Champions League last season.

"I didn't expect Barca fans to start singing it for me at Camp Nou so soon. It made me feel like I've been here for a long time," said the player who had strengthened Borussia Dortmund.

Lewandowski is currently joining the Polish national team in preparation for the UEFA Nations League. He will be captain for two games against Wales and the Netherlands.
