Victory At GP Aragon 2021 After The Sengit Fight With Marquez Buka Mata Bagnaia: I Was Able To Win Racing

JAKARTA - Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia revealed that his success in the 2021 Aragon Grand Prix has made him aware of being able to fight with champions to win races and become more competitive.

Last year's GP Aragon became the moment the Italian rider felt the top podium for the first time in a premier class after winning a fierce battle with eight-time world champion Marc Marquez until the final lap.

He also secured pole position by breaking Aragon circuit records, even though he fell during the FP2.

"The win comes after a difficult period because I'm always competitive to have the speed to win a race, but every time something happens," Bagnaia said in a press conference session ahead of the Aragon Grand Prix, quoted by Antara, Friday.

"So last year's race here with Marc, of course, something that helped me understand that I was able to win the race."

The conversation was not just boast, the evidence was that Bagnaia from last year's Aragon until the San Marino GP last month had won 10 wins from 20 races.

He has again challenged this season's title and put pressure on his main rival, Fabio Quartararo, after cutting his distance from the leader of the standings to 61 points thanks to four consecutive wins towards Aragon.

After losing quite a lot of points in the first half of the season due to poor performance, Bagnaia has now emerged as a serious threat with the emphasis that no rider has won the race other than him since mid-June.

Bagnaia will wish to repeat his success last year in pursuit of Quartararo who is still 30 points clear with six races remaining.

"I don't think anything has changed after that win (in Aragon last year), maybe the world will be the same, but in the end if we see the results, it gives me the motivation and strength to win the race.

"Obviously, this race helped me become more competitive," said Bagnaia.
