JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar said Real Madrid centre-back Antonio Rudiger was a frightening opponent.

Rudiger earned his reputation as one of the best defenders in Europe, thanks to his outstanding physical and speed, as well as his defensive skills.

"I really like him, he's a scary centre-back," Neymar said in an interview with DAZN when asked about Rudiger.

"He's very big and strong. Some strikers are a little scared.

"I don't, but I think a lot of strikers are getting a little scared."

When asked about other defenders, the Brazilian admitted that Virgil van Dijk was very strong and intelligent.

"Playing against Van Dijk is difficult because, as a centre-back, he is very strong and intelligent," he said.

"He knows when it's the right time to close you off and when to sign in to do a tackle."

The 30-year-old also has several words for Raphael Varane of Manchester United, whom he often faces while in Spain.

"He's a very good centre-back," he admitted.

"He's fast and smart. His placement was very good. He's a top player.

"He almost never makes mistakes. That's why he wins so much."
