JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali appreciated the SIWO PWI Golf Tournament at Sentul Highlands Golf Club, West Java. According to him, golf can be a new trend, especially to attract young people to exercise.

"The trend now is that many of our young people are interested in playing golf. Because many of them consider golf as a sport that can hone the ability to make the body healthy," said Zainudin in his press statement, Sunday, October 25.

Although this golf tournament was held in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic atmosphere. It is evident from the large number of young people who come to the driving range or the area where golfers practice.

"Golf is a sport that really supports young people to play, in addition to requiring physical activity to exercise, it is also supported by healthy natural conditions," he added.

Together with Deputy Chairman of the Central KONI, Suwarno, and Secretary General of the Indonesian NOC, Ferry Kono, struck a smoke ball as a sign of the opening of the SIWO PWI Pusat Golf Tournament. This tournament was also held to celebrate the 37th National Sports Day (Haornas), as well as to commemorate the 2020 Youth Pledge Day.

"The government, especially the Ministry of Youth and Sports, appreciates and supports Siwo PWI Pusat in holding this golf tournament. This golf tournament is held in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic atmosphere. Therefore, my hope is to continue implementing health protocols." he said.

The Central Siwo PWI Golf Tournament will be divided into two categories, namely partners and general participants, with the competition setting using 18 holes. Participants can only be represented by four golfers in one fight, also required to use a golf chart.

In addition, the committee will also give prizes for one car to participants who have successfully made a hole in one. The existence of this tournament was attended by 80 participants from various elements of society who have an interest in golf.
