JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan were surprised by the results they achieved at the 2022 BWF World Championships. The third seed did not expect to qualify for the semifinals.

“We never thought we could go this far. Being able to enter the semifinals felt a surprise too. But we remain focused on tomorrow," Ahsan said in an official statement from PP PBSI.

In the quarter-finals which took place on Friday afternoon, Ahsan/Hendra qualified for the semifinals after defeating representatives of India, Arjun Matathil/Dhruv Kapila 21-8, 21-14.

In the semifinals, Ahsan/Hendra will face Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. However, they admitted that they were not too worried about their compatriot.

"Meeting Fajar/Rian has often been in practice, so you definitely know each other's strengths and weaknesses. So we will give the best for tomorrow," Hendra added.

The meeting of Ahsan/Hendra and Fajar/Rian is both good and bad news for Indonesia. The good thing is that this meeting has confirmed Indonesia to send one representative to the final.

While the bad thing is, the opportunity to add representatives in the final is thinning because there must be a civil war.
