JAKARTA — UFC star Conor McGregor is certain to not be going up the octagon this year due to his focus on preparing to make his debut as an actor.

This was conveyed by Tim Simpson as the manager of the Irish fighter. McGregor will not fight until 2023 as he is still recovering from injury and preparing to star in Road House.

"Acting isn't something I think Conor has in mind, right now he's still a world class athlete and his focus is on becoming the best fighter in the world," Simpson said.

The film Road House is planned for a remake this year. McGregor will play one of the roles with renowned actor Jake Gyllenhall as the main character.

However, Simpson said that McGregor's chances of returning to fight in the octagon remain. It's just that it really depends on the recovery of the leg injury he suffered in his last duel.

"His leg is still healing, I think there's a bit more to do but he's been training like crazy. Twice a day, every day," Simpson said.

"He's been training really hard, he's in great shape, just needs a final adjustment to get that leg back where it belongs."

The Notorious last performed at the Octagon on July 10, 2021. At that time he lost against Dustin Poirier and brought home a horror injury to his left leg.
