JAKARTA — The women's doubles pair Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Ribka Sugiarto advanced to the second round of the 2022 Japan Badminton World Championships.

Fadia/Ribka qualified after winning over Chinese Taipei representatives Chang Ching Hui/Yang Ching Yun 21-14 and 21-8 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Monday, August 22 evening WIB.

In women's doubles, Indonesia can still add representatives. This will happen if Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pertiwi win over their opponents Margot Lambert/Anne Tran tomorrow.

Before Fadia/Ribka, there were already four Indonesian representatives who qualified for the second round. Men's singles sent two representatives, while mixed doubles and women's singles each sent one representative.

In the men's singles, the first ticket was obtained by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who passed with difficulty. He had to fight to beat the representative of Brazil Ygor Coelho in a match of three sets.

The next men's singles ticket was obtained by Jonatan Christie after beating the French representative Toma Junior Popov. Meanwhile, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and Tommy Sugiarto had to go home early.

Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati obtained the ticket for the second round of mixed doubles. In the singles number, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung also managed to advance to the second round.

In the second half later, Gregoria immediately got a tough opponent. He will meet Japan's first seed Akane Yamaguchi who got a blank draw in the first round.
