JAKARTA - Persib Bandung has officially appointed Luis Milla as the new coach to replace Robert Alberts. The Spaniard got a two-year contract.
The duration of this contract is in accordance with the agreement between Persib's management and Luis Milla, who has been in communication for a long time.
"After discussion, he agreed to join Persib with a two-year contract duration with an option for an extension," said Director of PT Persib Bandung Dignity (PBB), Teddy Tjahjono in an official statement.
Persib wants Milla not only to form a team for Liga 1 2022/2023. However, there are long-term projects to be achieved.
Teddy said Milla's presence was an effort by the club to build new hope through the strength of the team, which cannot be done instantly.
According to Teddy, building the strength of a team takes time and a long-term process so that Persib can become champions, both at the national and Asian levels.
"Luis Milla is a coach who has the concept and strategy of building a team, so that it is in accordance with our vision and mission to build a very solid Persib and can excel, both nationally and in Asian competitions," said Teddy.
"With this extraordinary experience and of course getting used to the competitive and passionate atmosphere of the fans, we decided to put our trust in Luis Milla to be the new coach who brings new hope to Persib," said Teddy.
As is known, Luis Milla is a qualified international coach. As coach, Luis Milla once led Spain to lift the 2011 U-21 European Cup trophy.
Less than two years handling the Indonesian National Team, both senior and U-23, Luis Milla also managed to present a silver medal at the 2017 SEA Games and penetrated the round of 16 of the 2018 Asian Games.
"Since I first communicated with Persib, I have seen the seriousness and professionalism. This is a big project and made me interested in joining Persib," said Luis Milla.
Despite having signed a contract, Milla may not be able to accompany Persib who will face Bali United, Tuesday, August 23 tomorrow.
