Filipino Golfer, Princess Mary Superal, Wins The Simone Asia Pacific Cup Women's Golf Tournament In Jakarta

The female golfer from the Philippines, Princess Mary Superal, won a prize of Rp. 1.5 billion after winning the Simone Asia Pacific Cup 2022 women's golf tournament in Jakarta, August 17-20. (Simone Asia Pacific Cup)

JAKARTA – Princess Mary Superal won the 2022 Simone Asia Pacific Cup golf tournament at Pondok Indah Golf Course, Jakarta, Saturday (20/8). The female golfer from the Philippines outperformed two world stars, So Yeon Ryu (South Korea) and Lydia Ko (New Zealand). He scored 67 strokes or 5 under par in the final game. Leading him to the final leaderboard with a total of 204 strokes or 12 under par.

Winning the Simone Asia Pacific Cup 2022 was his best result since turning professional in 2016.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. I am very happy. I played in the final round like the day before. Focus on my own game," said Princess, who received a prize of US$100,000 or around Rp. 1.5 billion out of a total prize of US$750,000.

He scored hat-trick birdies on the first nine, namely on holes 2, 3, and 4. The other two birdies were scored on holes 10 and 15. The rest were par.

Princess is quite familiar with Pondok Indah Golf Course. He had played on this golf course when he was an amateur. He also admitted that he was very happy to come back and play in Jakarta.

Princess played one flight with her country mate Pauline Del Rosario along with a New Zealand couple, Lydia Ko who is the world's 4th ranked LPGA golfer and Momoka Kobori. Princess hopes that with this victory she can inspire women, especially in Asia, to excel on the golf course.

So Yeon Ryu won the runner up position from Lydia Ko. He was one stroke ahead of Lydia. So Yeon Ryu, who won the 2017 Ana Inspiration major and 2011 US Women's Open, collected 207 strokes or 9 under par. He scored 7 birdies, but made two bogeys.
