Rossi's Absence Is The Cause Of The Quiet British MotoGP, Silverstone Circuit Director: Dorna Knows They Have A Big Task

JAKARTA - The continuation of the 2022 MotoGP competition which was held last August 5-7 at the Silverstone Circuit, England was not as lively as expected. The number of spectators at the Silverstone Circuit has decreased quite drastically.

Some of the stands were even empty and others were far from full. The number of spectators this time also became the smallest since the British GP was moved from Donington Park to Silverstone.

"It was a sunny day and I'm a little disappointed that we didn't have more spectators," said Silverstone Circuit Director Stuart Pringle.

Pringle clearly didn't want this to continue. For that, he asked all aspects - including the organizers - to make changes to attract the interest of the audience. “I think promoters, national broadcasters and national governing bodies all have something to do here. We all have to come together," he said.

Further about the possibility that caused the decline in the number of spectators at the Silverstone Circuit, Pringle mentioned the name Valentino Rossi.

"Dorna knows they have a big task. When Valentino Rossi announced his retirement, we saw what happened to ticket sales. Everyone still came in their Rossi shirt. This is the dominant 'name' out there," he explained.

However, not only that, several important MotoGP figures including Honda officials and Marc Marquez have stated that the course of MotoGP this season seems monotonous because of the lack of actions that precede each other.
