JAKARTA - Carlo Ancelotti has announced his plans to retire from football after his contract at Real Madrid expires.

The 63-year-old coach is considered one of the best coaches in world football. He has coached ten different teams during his nearly 30-year career and has now decided to retire at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"At this stage I will end my career at Real Madrid. After Los Blancos, I will stop," Ancelotti told Italian media Il Messaggero, quoted by Antara from the Daily Mail on Sunday.

"Real Madrid is at the pinnacle of football. It made sense to end it after this experience," he added.

"Twenty-four titles in my career? To be honest these numbers mean nothing to me," claims Ancelotti. "I'll think about it at the end, when contemplation makes more sense. Now I'm focused on training; I like the day-to-day work."

"Until the last few years, my priority was tactics. Now I focus on human relations, getting to know people and the new generation."

The former Everton coach joined Madrid to coach Real Madrid for the first time from 2013 to 2015. He managed to lead the Spanish club to win the Champions League and Copa del Rey during that period.

He rejoined Los Blancos in June 2021, Ancelotti led his team to win LaLiga and the Champions League last season. He also became the first coach to win a league title in Europe's top five competitions.

Ancelotti's current contract is due to expire in 2024, but there is still the possibility of an extension by Real Madrid, although it remains to be seen if he will extend his contract beyond that date.
