JAKARTA - Formula (F1) driver Lewis Hamilton is starting to spread his wings. Now he is not only investing in the world of racing, but also in the National Football League (NFL).

Hamilton officially became owner of the Denver Broncos after joining the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group.

This group first acquired the club in early 2022. At that time they poured funds with a value of 4 billion euros or around Rp. 60 trillion.

"We are delighted to welcome Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group," said club owner Rob Walton.

"He (Hamilton) is a champion racer who knows what it takes to lead a winning team and a staunch advocate for equality, even in his own sport."

"With more than 100 victories, Lewis is categorized as the most successful F1 driver of all time. His spirit of resilience and level of excellence will be an asset to the Broncos ownership group and organization," he continued.

Reported by The Sun, Hamilton already knows the NFL club quite well because the driver has a home in Colorado, where he spends winter holidays. He was also present at the 2016 Super Bowl, when the Denver Broncos won the title.

This is not the first time Hamilton has reportedly been interested in investing in other sports. Previously he was also linked with Premier League giants, Chelsea.

The rumors emerged shortly after Roman Abramovich relinquished ownership. Hamilton is predicted to buy shares of the English Premier League club along with the top American tennis player, Serena Williams. But then it was just a rumor.

Meanwhile, Hamilton is also known to form the team that competes in Extreme E. The electric car rally squad and aims for the environmental campaign are reinforced by nine-time WRC champion, Sebastien Loeb, and Spanish women's rally driver, Cristina Gutierrez.
