JAKARTA - Ashleigh Barty has another historic moment in his life in 2022. The Grand Slam champion, who recently retired from tennis, announced his marriage to partner Garry Kissick.

Barty, the year-end WTA world number one for the last three seasons, uploaded a wedding photo with Kissick on her Instagram account, @ashbarty quoted on Sunday, July 31.

"Husband & Wife" is the short text on the photo uploaded by Ashleigh Barty.

Quoted from the official WTA website via Antara, the couple got engaged at the end of last year and had set a wedding date for 2022 even before Barty claimed her first singles title of the year at home at the 2022 Australian Open.

Barty won her third Grand Slam singles title in February, becoming the first Australian woman to win the trophy since Chris O'Neil in 1978.

However, it was Barty's final tournament win when she announced her retirement from professional tennis in March while she was still world No. 1 in the WTA singles rankings.

In less than half a year since then, Barty has been honored in her home country, receiving the title of Officer of the Order of Australia for her services to sports and youth development programmes.

The next day, Barty took part in the eighth nationally televised issue of Big Freeze, where she and other celebrities jumped on waterslides in costumes to raise awareness and raise funds to fight motor neurone disease.

In one of their most recent adventures, Barty and Kissick, both exceptional golfers, attend the 150th Open Championship, the men's major golf tournament at St. Andrews Old Course in Scotland earlier this month.
