Ahead Of Liga 1 2022/2023, PSSI Chairman Highlights Referee Performance Preparation For The Creation Of Fair Play Competition

JAKARTA - PSSI general chairman (ketum) Mochamad Iriawan also monitored the preparation of the referee's performance ahead of the 2022/2023 Liga 1 season on 23 July. According to Iriawan, referees play an important role in creating a clean football competition.

Therefore, Iriawan advised all referees involved to carry out their duties properly and honestly. For this season alone there will be 59 referees and 74 assistant referees who will be on duty.

"Alhamdulillah, next weekend the kick off of Liga 1 2022/2023 will begin. For this reason, I encourage referees and assistant referees to carry out their duties with full integrity, professionalism, honesty, and comply with PSSI statutes and regulations when on duty," said Iriawan after the Coordination Meeting at the Kemenpora Office, Jakarta.

On that occasion, Iriawan also said that PSSI continues to strive to provide the best and fairest facilities in the world of football. Including through the presence of referees who have the best licenses and excel in performance.

"Referees and assistant referees can excel by having a good performance, high work ethic, character like a fair leader,"

"The application of an additional assistant referee or additional assistant referee is an effort from PSSI for measurable breakthroughs and improving the quality of our competition," added the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule.

In order to realize the performance of referees who uphold honesty, PSSI has also increased referee allowances since the 2021/2022 League 1 competition. This is done in order to improve the welfare of the refereeing profession and minimize bribery in the field.

As a form of firmness, Iriawan did not hesitate to take serious action against the performance of the referee who deviated from the existing agreements and regulations.

"If there is a referee who dares to violate ethics, is proven guilty, he will be penalized and banned from playing in Indonesian football," said Iriawan.
