Chris Paul Becomes Disney Boss's Billion Dollar Investment Machine

JAKARTA - Chris Paul is one of the most iconic names in the NBA today.

The Phoenix Suns player has had one of the longest careers in the league, making him one of the greatest of all time, although he hasn't won a ring so far.

But, beyond what he does on the pitch, the 37-year-old also has a good business record.

Quoted from Marca, Friday, the Suns point guard has earned nearly 300 million US dollars during his career.

Paul invested his fortune in a series of successful business ventures but started by finding a mentor in Los Angeles.

In 2011, Paul approached Bob Iger to mentor him, and the Walt Disney chairman and former CEO gave him a recommendation that would turn the point guard into an investment machine.

Iger himself revealed how Paul helped him.

"He said, 'I need someone I can talk to about business. I need someone I can learn from,'" Iger told Bloomberg, adding that he felt like he was his coach off the pitch.

Paul looks to Iger to help him understand new technologies, startups, investment opportunities, business plans, human resources, decision making, and risk taking.

After all these concepts were understood, a good friendship and a great empire were born.

Paul is looking for a company that is true to his values, and has a social impact.

Among the companies he has invested in are: Beyond Meat, Current Foods, Bowery Farming, which deals with vegan issues. Also there is MaxOne and Goalsetter.

The business also has stakes in sports-related businesses, Rihanna's well-known lingerie brand Savage x Fenty, and exclusive watch company WatchBox.

Not only that, Paul is also a shareholder in Rajasthan Royals, the Indian Premier League cricket team and has started Chris Paul Basketball Academy. Yes, so many investments he has all over the world.
