Moment Of 'Indonesia' Shouting In The Final Of Malaysia Open 2022, Apriyani/Siti Fadia: It's Like Playing At Home

JAKARTA - The pair Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti won the Malaysia Open 2022. An extraordinary achievement considering that they were not counted as winners.

In the final which took place on Sunday, July 3, Apriyani/Siti Fadia defeated representatives of China, Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu with a score of 21-18, 12-21, and 21-19.

Even though they played at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Apriyani/Siti Fadia felt like they were playing at home. The reason is, that the struggle of Apriyani/Siti Fadia received support from thousands of spectators who came to the arena of the match.

Even shouts of "Indonesia, Indonesia," echoed throughout the stadium. "Today we feel like playing at home, thank you to all the spectators at the Axiata Arena," said Apriyani as quoted by Antara.

Apriyani said she was grateful to be a champion. Their target to become champions was finally achieved. However, she and Siti Fadia are not complacent.

"There is still the Malaysia Masters next week, we have to prepare again. Our journey has just begun, when we get off the podium we are back from zero again," said Apriyani.

Siti Fadia also admitted that she was happy to be the champion. Even though she has just been paired with Apriyani, she has already collected SEA Games gold medals and won the World Tour.

"Hopefully in the future, I will be more confident, even better and I will continue to learn," she said.

Apriyani/Siti Fadia's victory was also greeted with joy by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The number one person in Indonesia celebrates it through social media.

"Our new women's doubles badminton pair, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti successfully won the Malaysia Open 2022 after defeating the Chinese pair, Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu," President Jokowi tweeted on his official Twitter account, @jokowi.
