JAKARTA - Police have arrested three suspects who robbed boxer Amir Khan's expensive watch. The robbery took place last April in east London.

The £72,000 watch was robbed from the boxer's wrist as he and his wife Faryal Makhdoom had just finished eating at the Sahara Grill in Leyton, East London.

At the time of the incident one of the two perpetrators who approached Amir Khan pointed a gun and forced him to hand over his Franck Muller Vanguard Chronograph watch. This watch is adorned with 719 19 carat diamonds.

Police announced that three suspects are currently being questioned on suspicion of robbery. Two of them were also arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with the intent to threaten the victim.

“Detectives investigating street robberies at gunpoint in Leyton have made three arrests. The three suspects with the initials A (25), B (34) and C (20) were arrested on suspicion of robbery after warrants were executed by detectives this morning," a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

“Man A has also been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with the intent to incite fear of violence. Man C has been arrested for this offense and possession of ammunition. All three remain in custody," the spokesman continued.

A few hours after the robbery occurred, Amir Khan immediately uploaded a video and told what had happened to him. He was grateful that both he and his wife were safe.

“It feels a little weird not wearing a watch, but that's how it is. I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm fine," he said.

Police said that they immediately launched an investigation after the robbery which occurred at 9:15 p.m. local time, April 18.

"Dealing with robberies is the Met's top priority. This arrest demonstrates our commitment to removing those who intend to use force, or the threat of violence, on our streets," said Detective Sergeant Lee Warrington of the Met Specialist Crime Command.
