JAKARTA - The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has announced the latest decision to apply for the 2023-2026 season. During this period there will be an increase in the number of World Tour tournaments.

From the new ruling, it appears that the most striking changes will be seen in Super 1000 level tournaments. The highest level will be held four times, while Super 750 level will be held six times.

For this latest change, Thomas Lund as the Secretary General of BWF said that this happened because of the positive interest from the host countries who participated in the bidding for the tournament.

“Badminton is a sport that is growing very fast through the participation and increasing number of fans. With more tournaments, it gives us a great opportunity to push this sport to reach more people around the world," said Thomas.

The BWF said there would be one additional Super 1000 tournament, two Super 750 tournaments, three Super 500 and two additional Super 300 tournaments.

BWF also said that the Malaysia Open will be the highest caste badminton tournament at the Super 1000 level following the All England, Indonesia Open and China Open which were previously held.

In addition, the Singapore Open and India Open tournaments will also experience a level change to Super 750. At the Super 500 level there will be three new hosts, namely Australia, Canada and Finland.

Furthermore, the two tournaments that were previously at the Super 100 level, namely the Hylo Open and the Orleans Masters, will be upgraded to Super 300.
