JAKARTA - The struggle of Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva in the Indonesia Open 2022 was stopped in the quarter-finals. Their move was blocked by representatives of South Korea, Lee So Hee / Shin Seung Chan.

In the meeting that took place on Friday afternoon, Apriyani/Fadia had to admit Lee/Shin's strength after passing 52 minutes. The pair of representatives from South Korea, ranked second in the world, ended the match with bitter results for the representatives of Indonesia, 14-21 and 19-21.

After the match, the women's doubles coach Eng Hian stated that her team's defeat in the quarter-finals was due to non-technical factors. The reason is, if you look at the technique and pattern, Apriyani/Fadia is considered to have been able to balance the second seeded pair.

"There was no problem with the playing pattern and technique. But it was more of a non-technical factor. Especially Fadia, who seemed to be provoked by the atmosphere of the audience at Istora Senayan," said Eng Hian.

Furthermore, the coach who is familiarly called Didi corrected that Fadia should have been able to appear calmer so that he had a greater chance of winning points.

"However, because of the cheers of the audience who supported him, he (Fadia) actually wanted to rush to kill the opponent," said Eng Hian.

This defeat will be a lesson for Fadia because he admits the game was good enough but not consistent.

"Our game actually hasn't changed, it's just less consistent when it comes to important points," said Fadia.

With this victory, Lew/Shin who are also winners of the 2021 French Open will face the winner of the match between representatives of South Korea, Jeong Na vs. Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota from Japan.
