Amaze! Wins French Open With Painkiller, Rafael Nadal: I Can't Go On Like This

JAKARTA - Tennis player from Spain, Rafael Nadal, won the French Open 2022 after defeating Casper Ruud of Norway. He won 6-3, 6-3, and 6-0, Sunday, June 5.

There is an interesting story behind his victory. Rafael Nadal apparently had to receive a painkiller injection before competing. This is to overcome the pain caused by Nadal's knee injury.

As a result of the injection, Rafael Nadal had to play with numb feet. Although not a barrier, but Nadal felt he couldn't do that forever.

"I can't go on like this, but I'm trying to find a way out of this," Nadal said.

"With the situation like this, I can't and don't want to continue like this. I will continue to try to find a solution and restore what happened to my leg."

He explained that injecting anesthetic into the nerve in his left leg was the only way he could compete.

After winning the 2022 French Open, the 36-year-old will undergo follow-up treatment this week in Spain. If the treatment works, he will continue to play.

"Otherwise it will be another story and I will ask myself if I am ready to have a major operation that may not guarantee I will be competitive and will take a long time to come back," he said.

He could not confirm whether he will play at Wimbledon which will be held in three weeks. The winner of 22 Grand Slam titles admitted that he would play if his body was ready.

"Wimbledon is a tournament that I don't want to miss. I can't give a definite answer. We'll see how it goes," said Rafael Nadal.
