Wins Gold Medal, SEA Games Rowing Athlete From Bogor Paraded By Villagers

BOGOR - A number of rowing athletes from Bogor Regency, who won medals for Indonesia at the SEA Games Vietnam 2021, were paraded around the Cibinong area, Bogor Regency, West Java, from the Pakansari Stadium to the Pancakarsa Monument, Sunday, June 5.

They are Kakan Kusmana, who won two gold medals in the double rowing sculls class and 4th rowing sculls class. Then Denri Mualizar-Ferdiansyah also won two gold medals from rowing number 4 coxles and rowing fair.

Meanwhile, Reski Wahyuni, who contributed one bronze medal from the Canoe 2 class, was unable to attend Cibinong because he was participating in the national training camp (pelatnas).

The athletes who were fostered by the All Indonesia Rowing Sports Association (PODSI) of Bogor Regency were paraded in hilux cars and introduced to the public that their local sons had succeeded in making the nation's name proud in the most prestigious event.

They were paraded from the starting point at the Baitul Faidzin Mosque to Jalan Raya Tegar Beliman and continued around the Pakansari Stadium Area, towards the Pancakarsa Monument.

The Chairperson of the Bogor Regency PODSI, Anton Sukartono Suratto, who was paraded with the three athletes, said he was proud that his foster children had achieved achievements in the multi-event sports event between Southeast Asian countries.

"The procession and giving of Kadeudeuh is a form of our appreciation to the athletes. Moreover, this is also the goal to motivate junior athletes to train harder," said Anton.

According to him, the achievement of four gold medals and one bronze medal from four athletes at the 2021 SEA Games has exceeded the target set by the PODSI Regional Headquarters. Moreover, the four gold and one bronze medals have made rowing athletes the largest contributor to gold medals from Bogor Regency.

"Alhamdulillah, the rowing athlete of Bogor Regency was recorded as a gold medal winner representing Bogor Regency at the 2021 SEA Games," he said.

Not only that, Anton hopes that the achievements that have been achieved by these four athletes can later become a driving force for other rowing athletes in an effort to achieve the target of winning at the XIV West Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) 2022.

Anton gave an award and appreciation in the form of IDR 75 million for four medal-winning athletes at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam.

In addition to the award from PODSI, the rowing athletes also received kadeudeuh from the Bogor Regency Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), which was handed over directly by the Chair of the Achievement Division, Dedi Budi Sumardi.
