This Is The Reason Mitch Evans Didn't Ask For Input From Sean Gelael On The Jakarta Formula E Circuit

JAKARTA – Jaguar TCS Racing racer Mitch Evans admitted that he did not establish communication with his former teammate Sean Gelael regarding the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) track.

Evans is one of 22 Formula E drivers who are ready for action at JIEC on Saturday, June 4 tomorrow. This is their first race on the 2.34 kilometer track.

Although he had never raced there, Evans should have been able to find out the character of the circuit to Sean Gelael. Gelael is an Indonesian who once teamed up with him when they raced in Feature GP2.

Unfortunately, Gelael is also blind about the new circuit. For that, Evans said, he did not want to dig up any information from Gelael regarding the circuit except for other things related to Indonesia.

"Not communicating with the drivers in Indonesia (Sean Gelael) because basically we are both in the same position, which is not knowing about this track," said Evans.

This recognition is in line with the current leader of the drivers' standings, Stoffel Vandoorne of the Mercedes-EQ team. Just like Evans, Stoffel has also previously been a teammate of Gelael.

Stoffel and Gelael were recorded to have both raced in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series. At that time, these two racers carried the JOTA Sport flag.

"No," said Stoffel in response to the question of whether he communicated with Gelael to find out the character of JIEC.

Racing in Jakarta will be an opportunity for Evans to make a comeback. This season, Evans is still the only driver to win twice in a row before slumping to Race 1 & 2 in Berlin.

Meanwhile, Stoffel will try to maintain the championship path that he currently holds. The podium will be very important for him in order to maintain a distance of points with the second position which is occupied by Edoardo Mortara with a gap of only 12 points.
